Of course, no trip to the islands would be complete without seeing the tortoises. A big one can reach branches 5 feet off the ground. The islands get their name from their shells, which in some species look like a saddle, "Galapagos" in Spanish, from which we also get the word "gallop".

This sea lion had found a bunch of dead squid in a tide pool and was having an easy meal.

The crabs were trying to eat some squid, too, but the sea lion wasn't in a mood to share, and kept taking back any squid the crabs attempted to eat.
