Reading the counter

This appears to be one of two essays on the same subject, referring to the same source code! Click here for the other effort!

Most of what you need, I hope is contained in the documentation within the source code. I'll try to expand this page as time and interest shown permit/ warrants.

The source code is for Borland's Delphi. It will allow you to read the counter for input B of a DS2423. Only small changes are needed to read the counter for input A.

Get your counter working first, using the Dallas iButton Viewer that comes with TMEX. I couldn't find a way to do this without supplying a power supply (two AA batteries, in my instance) to the DS2423. The Viewer will also reveal for you your chip's unique ID code, which you will need. (You supply it to my program with an .ini file. One is supplied, but you have to edit it to change the chip ID entry... unless you want to run the program using my Dallas chip!)
Zip file with source code
I also have some pages explaining Delphi programming, and the Level Five tutorials are about using Dallas chips- the DS2401 ("silicon serial number"), DS2405 (single bit input or output), DS1820 temperature sensor, DS2423 (counter discussed in this page), DS2450 (ADC)

Ad from page's editor: Yes.. I do enjoy compiling these things for you... hope they are helpful. However.. this doesn't pay my bills!!! If you find this stuff useful, (and you run an MS-DOS or Windows PC) please visit my freeware and shareware page, download something, and circulate it for me? At least (please) send an 'I liked the parallel port use page, and I'm from (country/ state)' email? (No... I don't do spam) Links on your page to this page would also be appreciated!

Why is there a script and hidden graphic on this page? I have my web-traffic monitored for me by eXTReMe tracker. They offer a free tracker. If you want to try one, check out their site. Neither my webpages nor my programs incorporate spyware. If the page has Google ads, they also involve scripts.
