From register of proclamations of banns and marriages, Scotland, Berwick, Swinton; 13 May 1838, my doc FHS407b5d (This doc, a major breakthough, first seen 31 Oct 2007... ironic, a year to the day before the major breakthroughs of 2007. Also ironic: Near All Hallows Eve.
"Robert Boyd, Shoreditch, London and Mary Lunham in this Parish gave in their names for Proclamation of purpose of marriage. Gave to the Poor 1s 2p."
That's the entry in full. I had not known Robert was of London before this. So how did he meet Mary? Were they living in Swinton, or did they go there for this? Etc!
